LONG COVE NEWS:
The new Golf Digest Rankings have just
been published and Long Cove Club on Hilton Head Island has moved
from #93 in 2004 up to #77 (#3 in the state of South Carolina!).
The Kiawah Ocean Course came in at #70, and Hilton Head Island's
other Pete Dye gem Harbour Town Golf Links came in at #65.
With all of the great golf courses in the Low Country, coming in as
the third best course in the state is quite an accomplishment.
Long Cove Club launches new community website.

ABOUT
LONG COVE CLUB:
One of the most coveted places to
live on Hilton Head is Long Cove, a membership community noted for
having the #1 ranked golf course in the state. Beyond the
community’s gate lie some of the most beautiful homes on the island,
some of which overlook the expansive waters of Broad Creek.
Amid
the towering pines and canopy like live oaks, the stately Clubhouse
stands on a knoll at the end of a magnolia and azalea-lined drive.
Inside, members enjoy a fine-dining facility, grille, locker rooms,
lounge, and cards rooms, along with a well-equipped and
expertly-staffed pro shop. From the terraces and covered verandas of
the Clubhouse, one has a magnificent panoramic view of the 18th
green, the first tee and fairway and the treacherous dog-legged 9th
hole & green.
Although the name of the game at Long
Cove is “golf”, members are offered a great deal more in the way of
recreational amenities. Tennis players choose any of ten expertly
maintained Har-Tru courts and the swimmer or sun-worshipper takes
advantage of the popular azure-blue Olympic-sized pool.
Broad
Creek, which leads to beautiful Calibogue Sound & the US
Inter-coastal Waterway, forms the northern boundary of Long Cove.
It also provides a magnificent site for the community’s boating
facility which offers members their choice of 74 boat slips. There’s
a good chance that you’ll catch a sea trout, spot-tailed bass or
other samples of salt-water fish from the docks. The crabbing isn’t
bad, either. If you prefer fresh-water angling, the many lagoons of
Long Cove offer a plentiful supply of large-mouth bass & bream.
There are several part-time “farmers”
at the Club who enjoy harvesting the results of their soil-tilling
labors at the community farm plots. Anyone who desires to try their
green thumb is welcome to do so. When one speaks of Long Cove,
the words describe a way of life that is quiet, yet active...an
atmosphere of good taste & simple elegance.

Just when you thought that the
golfing experience couldn’t get any better, Pete Dye returned
in 2001 to oversee the $1.6 million facelift project, which included
new Tifeagle greens, renovations or revision to 14 bunkers, a new
sprinkler system & several new tees that stretch the total yardage
to 7,026.
South-centrally located, Long Cove
consists of 573 full-sized home sites on 600 acres. Currently, there
are approximately 430 homes. Lots range in size from .4 to .9 acres.
Founded in 1980, the plantation sold out in only 7 short years.
All
property purchases include membership to the Club and only property
owners may join. The annual POA fee of $6,349 covers the 24-hour
manned security entrance gate, maintenance of the common grounds &
lagoons, free boat slip up to 35’, tennis courts, swimming pool &
clubhouse facilities. The fee also covers green fees for the family,
including dependent children who are between the ages of 18 & 23 and
are pursuing an academic degree on a full-time basis. The POA fee is
billed in two installments, January and June. There is a
property membership transfer fee of $5,000 for a lot and $10,000 for
a home.
