Pinckney Island wildlife refuge; Newhall
Audubon Preserve on Palmetto Bay Road emphasize identified and tagged plant
life; the Port Royal Arboretum displays plants indigenous to the area; the Sea
Pines Forest Preserve is 400 acres of natural beauty -- a stocked fishing pond,
waterfowl pond and an Indian shell ring; the Whooping Crane Conservatory is a
wetland in Hilton Head Plantation which preserves rare sub-tropical birds,
reptiles and mammals -- the 1,000 foot boardwalk and nature trail allow for
self-guided tours.

Your heart will race with the pounding of
horse’s hooves as they thunder down the polo field, located at Rose Hill
Plantation. The season kicks off in the fall and continues through spring. Bring
a picnic, folding chairs and relax on the sidelines while you enjoy this sport
of kings.

Adorned in helmet and pads, islanders and
visitors take to the smooth walkways, streets and bike routes for roller skating
gone ‘90’s. Blades may be rented at many rental shops on the Island.

intriguing history and folklore. Visit such sites as: Baynard Ruins in Sea
Pines, the ruins of Braddock’s Point Plantation House Cotton Hope Plantation;
Fort Mitchell, on a bluff overlooking Skull Creek; the Zion Cemetery; and Baynard Mausoleum, the final
resting place of many Revolutionary War soldiers.
